But after entering college,they find it not quite as they expected. In college,students have more freedom. Unlike in middle school, students needn’t contribute to their study almost all the time except eating and sleeping. There no longer strict control from parents or teachers. They are their own masters after class. In order to get good grades,they must study by themselves. Of course,they have more time to develop their interests and hobbies. Sometimes they can take a part-time job to gain work experience. At the same time,college life brings about more responsibilities. Middle school students generally care about nothing but their studies. Their teachers and parents will do all the other things for them. While in college,students have to take care of themselves. They must do the washing and shopping. They have to decide what clothes to put on and with whom to make friends. Furthermore,as adults or would-be adults,they should learn to take responsibility for what they have done. They must first become responsible college students. Later,they will become responsible citizens. College life is an extension of high school life. Making full use of it will lay a good foundation for one s future career. Model 2 Job Problems for College Graduates Nowadays,it seems more and more difficult for college students to find a satisfactory job. Each year millions of college graduates pour into the tight job market,only to find institutions and enterprises more selective in hiring new employees. Consequently,some graduates have to do with jobs irrelevant to their majors,and an increasing number of graduates continue their studies. There are several reasons for the problems. First,at present the economy is growing at a low speed. So the increase of job opportunities cannot meet the increasing number of college graduates. Second,present higher educational system cannot gear to the development of economy. Many college courses are impractical,or even outdated. As a result,employers hesitate to hire graduates with only theoretical knowledge. Third,many graduates want to get a comfortable and well-paid job at the very beginning. So they crowd into big cities and large enterprises to compete for the few jobs there. As a result,the job market for college graduates are unbalanced between different areas and specialties. Therefore,undergraduate students should begin to prepare for the competitive job market. Distinguished academic performance would provide them with a better chance in hunting for a job,so they should first master their majors well. At the same time,they may major in such useful subjects as computer and marketing to meet the requirements of the developing economy. Besides,they may take part in some activities or part-time jobs to gain social experience. And what s more,some students can pursue postgraduate studies in order to find a better job later. Model 3 Leisure Activities Nowadays people are paying more attention to leisure activities to make themselves a little fitter. There is a wide range of choices. An d different people have different preferences. Generally speaking,there are two kinds of leisure activities: physical recreation and intellectual pastimes. Some people are interested in physical exercises. They take part in violent sports like caracing and boxing,because of the great excitement and high reward. Or they may take up fishing or jogging to enjoy the ease and freedom in them. Of course,there are people who like to spend their leisure quite intellectually. Many people take reading as a pleasure because they believe it is a necessary nourishment for mind and spirit. And listening to music is a hobby popular all over the world. On the whole,physical recreation is more active and energy-consuming while intellectual pastimes are more peaceful and thought-provoking. College students at my age are intensely keen on playing ball games like basketball,football and volleyball. But as for me,I prefer traveling to anywhere else. Touring with a friend or two,meeting new faces and enjoying beautiful views,I can not only have a good time,but also get to know the world better. Model 4 On Friendship Many people have been seeking sincere friendship all their livesWith friends,you will feel safe and sound. Its human nature to makefriends and share togetherness all the time. A good friend is a treasure. He is as valuable as a precious stone. He usually has the qualities of honesty,reliability and understanding. And he can help you study and work. With the help of good friends,your way to success will become smoother. The more friends you have,the more advice you can get,which can help you make greater progress. Besides,encouraged by close friends,your confidence will be strengthened and your work will be done better. Your life will become more cheerful if you have good friends. When you meet with difficulties,your friends are willing to help you; when you feel lonely,they will come to comfort and accompany you. When you are happy,they will share your joy with you. Without a friend,the world is a wilderness and life is meaningless. Often you will meet with fair-weather friends. They’ll be with you as long as you have money or luck,but when you are down,they will run away and desert you. So in choosing a friend,you should be very careful. Model 5 Stress Stress may be defined as the response of the body or mind to any demand. Whenever people experience something pleasant or unpleasant,we say they are under stress. It is inconceivable that anyone should have no stress at all. Most people who are ambitious and want to accomplish something live on stress. They need it. The stress stimulates them to work harder and usually leads to success. But excessive stress is by all means harmful. Worse,chronic exposure to stress over a long time may put people in-to bad mood and make them live unhappily. It can even cause more serious diseases and may actually shorten their life. So one should learn how to convert stress into motivation instead of letting it hurt him. The main reason of stress if psychological. It is caused by lack of adaptability,not having a code of behavior. So the secret of coping with stress is not to avoid it but to do what you like to do and what you were made to do,at your own rate.
