Model 2 Job Problems for College Graduates Nowadays,it seems more and more difficult for college students to find a satisfactory job. Each year millions of college graduates pour into the tight job market,only to find institutions and enterprises more selective in hiring new employees. Consequently,some graduates have to do with jobs irrelevant to their majors,and an increasing number of graduates continue their studies. There are several reasons for the problems. First,at present the economy is growing at a low speed. So the increase of job opportunities cannot meet the increasing number of college graduates. Second,present higher educational system cannot gear to the development of economy. Many college courses are impractical,or even outdated. As a result,employers hesitate to hire graduates with only theoretical knowledge. Third,many graduates want to get a comfortable and well-paid job at the very beginning. So they crowd into big cities and large enterprises to compete for the few jobs there. As a result,the job market for college graduates are unbalanced between different areas and specialties. Therefore,undergraduate students should begin to prepare for the competitive job market. Distinguished academic performance would provide them with a better chance in hunting for a job,so they should first master their majors well. At the same time,they may major in such useful subjects as computer and marketing to meet the requirements of the developing economy.
